Huckleberry Mines Ltd. is a 19,000 TPD open pit copper molybdenum mine located 120 kilometers south of Houston in west central British Columbia. The mine has been in operation since in September 1997 and closure is planned for 2021. We are currently recruiting for the following position:
Millwright – Site Services Team
Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor, the successful candidate will be part of the Site Services Team which is responsible for the repair and upkeep of a 250 and 100 person camps and mine site buildings and infrastructure. Duties include camp maintenance, industrial piping including HDPE process lines and pump maintenance, welding and fabricating and some equipment operating (loaders and excavators).
The successful candidate must possess a journeyman’s trade qualification and have a minimum of five years experience in an industrial environment. Preference will be given to applicants with mining experience and individuals who are also licensed or experienced in welding. Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this position.
Huckleberry Mines is a remote mine where its employees live in a camp environment on their days of work. The Millwright position works a 7 x 7 schedule (7 days in, 7 days out). While at the mine site all meals and accommodations are provided free of charge to employees. Transportation is provided from Houston.

New Gold is seeking temporary Geological Field Assistants to support our 2013 Summer Field Exploration Program at the Blackwater Project. Successful candidates must be willing to work as part of team at the Blackwater camp on the Nechako Plateau located approximately 160km southwest of Prince George, BC.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Successful candidates will participate in the following activities at the Blackwater Project:
- Collect soil and rock chip sampling under the Field Geologists direction
- Geotechnical logging (core recovery, RQD, fracture density and orientation etc.)
- Collect Magnetic and Specific Gravity data from core samples.
- Handle, label and store core boxes

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
|
- High school diploma (or equivalent) with previous experience in mineral exploration and a two-year diploma in relevant industry training.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a remote site environment.
- Team player with exceptional work ethic and attention to details.
- First Aid training and a valid driver license.

POSITION SCOPE:

Reporting directly to the Project Director and indirectly to the Vice President, Human Resources, this position is responsible for the management of human resources activities for New Gold’s Blackwater project, including recruitment and hiring activities for both the construction and operations teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
|
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate the risk to project success due to labour shortages in both construction and operations with a particular emphasis on hiring and training within local communities;
- Management of human resources activities, including workforce planning, recruitment, training and development, performance management, and compensation and benefits for both the project and operations teams;
- Work with management team to develop positive work environment for a project with a workforce that is expected to peak at 1,500;
- Create, evaluate, and deliver customized employee value propositions for both construction and operations phases;
- Monitor employee engagement, and address any satisfaction issues;
- Ensure compliance with national and local working standards;
- Develop and deliver training programs in conjunction with local providers to help close any existing skill gaps; and
- Work with Project Director, functional heads, and EPCM contractor to determine hiring needs and onboarding schedule.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Proven track record in developing and implementing labour strategies to grow a workforce that is expected to reach 1,500 people at its peak in a highly competitive labour market and preferably on construction projects involving EPCM contractors.
- Experience in managing high volume recruitment campaigns
- Experience in building effective teams
- Understanding of organizational goals and how to support these goals through appropriate human resources strategies
- CHRP designation or a combination of education and experience

Reporting to the Feasibility Director, this temporary position will be responsible for planning, coordinating and scheduling activities, utility and services projects for Field Engineering.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Planning, coordinating and scheduling activities, utility and services projects for Field Engineering.
- Providing engineering analysis and problem solving to assist us in creating an operational mine plan.
- Surface geological and geotechnical activities with geologists and geotechnical engineers.
- Surface sampling and mapping with exploration geologist(s).
- Database work with the geology database specialist.
- Various other geological or geotechnical duties that may occur.
- Provide support for camp supply and install, as well as core rack supply and install.
- QA/QC on working documents and spreadsheets.
- Additional tasks as required.

- 4th Year Mine Engineering Student.
- Proficient in MS Office software including: Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
- Exposure to specialist 3 dimensional mine design software – Minesight or similar would be an asset.
- Exposure to specialist gantt-chart mine planning software – Earthworks Production Scheduler would be an asset.
- Previous mining experience would be an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in an open pit mining environment would be an asset.
